PRACTICE
AREAS
DISCRIMINATION
The Holman Firm represents current and former employees in cases involving illegal discrimination based on race, disability, sex, pregnancy, and other protected characteristics. The Firm represents clients at the EEOC as well as in state and federal court.
RETALIATION
State and federal law protects employees from retaliation resulting from their protected activity. The Holman Firm can evaluate whether you have suffered illegal retaliation and pursue your claims in court.
SEVERANCE NEGOTIATION
WHISTLEBLOWERS
The Firm represents recently terminated employees in severance negotiations with their employer. The Holman Firm will assess areas of potential leverage and negotiate both monetary and non-monetary terms directly with the company.
Numerous federal statutes protect employees who report violations of law. These whistleblower protections have strict deadlines and typically must be pursued administratively before they can be filed in court. The Holman Firm has significant experience handling whistleblower claims before OSHA and in federal court.
OUR VISION
The Holman Firm is a woman-owned law firm dedicated to ensuring that every individual can achieve justice in the workplace and beyond. We focus on representing clients who face discrimination, sexual harassment, retaliation, and other civil rights violations. We provide strong, effective advocacy and support our clients through every step of their legal journey.
At The Holman Firm, we understand that many of our clients have recently been fired or are facing other financial hardships. We believe that justice should be available to everyone, regardless of income. Accordingly, we offer flexible, discounted case evaluations. We also take cases on a contingency fee, meaning that you pay nothing unless we recover money on your behalf.

ABOUT OUR FOUNDER

MELISSA R. HOLMAN
Melissa Holman has over sixteen years of experience litigating in state and federal court. After graduating with honors from the University of Texas School of Law in 2009, she began her legal career as a federal law clerk to Senior United States District Judge Harry Lee Hudspeth. She then practiced complex commercial litigation at a large firm in Dallas, Texas, representing Fortune 500 companies in high-stakes financial disputes before returning to Austin to litigate on behalf of state agencies and universities. Melissa has tried numerous cases to verdict and has handled appeals in state appellate courts as well as in the U.S. Fifth Circuit Court of Appeals.

Melissa founded The Holman Firm in 2024 out of a desire to provide sophisticated, hands-on representation for employees facing discrimination and retaliation in the workplace. She has represented CEOs, high-level government officials, tech employees, and others in complex discrimination and retaliation cases against some of the largest employers in the world. Melissa intentionally maintains a small caseload so that she can provide personalized service to every client. She understands that employment cases are often intensely personal and stressful, and she feels honored to pursue justice on behalf of her clients.
